Abubakar Assumes Office as Minister of Agriculture
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mahmood Abubakar says the only way Nigerians can support farmers to continue to produce is by consuming their farm produce.
Alhaji Abubakar was speaking while receiving the handing over notes from the outgoing Minister, Muhammed Sabo Nanono in Abuja, Thursday.
He said patronizing Nigerian farmers will motivate them to produce more and ensure food sufficiency and boost the economy of the country.
The minister sued for teamwork and cooperation among stakeholders in the agriculture sector to achieve the diversification policy of Mr. President.
The outgoing Minister, Muhammad Nanono who has been in the ministry for two years, welcomed the new Minister and urged him to continue from where to stopped in ensuring food security in the country.
The former minister also advised workers in the ministry to cooperate with the new minister in achieving the ministry’s mandate.
Recall that President Mohammadu Buhari redeployed former minister of Environment, Mohammed Abubakar to the Federal Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development on 1st September 2021.
