Akpabio apologizes to Senator Natasha over comment
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has apologized to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for his recent comment during a plenary recently.
On that day, the 18th of July Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan,a co- sponsor of the National Road Transport Council Bill, rose to speak in favour of the bill without the Senate president's permission.
Displeased with her inter jection, Senator Akpabio reminded the lawmaker that the chamber is not a night club.
Senator Akpabio's remarks sparked off negative reactions on social media with some Nigerians describing him as biased against women.
Speaking during Tuesday's plenary, the Senate President openly apologized to the Kogi Central lawmaker adding that in spite of the negative reports from the social media ,the 10th national assembly will not be forced to make laws against its operation.
He equally said his comment was gravely misquoted and wrongly interpreted on social media, stressing that he will never intentionally denigrate any woman.
President of the Senate however Akpabio warned social media users to desist from narratives capable of destabilizing Nigeria.
