Gov Diri Inaugurates Livestock Management Committeev
Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri has inaugurated the State Livestock Management Committee in line with section 2 of the state livestock, breeding, rearing and marketing regulation law 2021.
Senator Douye Diri, while inaugurating the committee in a brief ceremony at the conference room in the Government House, Yenagoa, said the essence of the committee is to implement the state law banning open grazing.
Governor Diri, further stated that as a state the government took a precautionary measure to ensure all residents in the state leave peacefully irrespective of ethnic affiliations.
Governor Diri, urges all Bayelsans particularly youths never to engage in the unlawful seizure of livestock, as the state commissioner for agriculture who doubled as the committee chairman affirmed that the law creates a peaceful disposition between herdsmen and farmers.
Correspondent reports that the state livestock, breeding, rearing and marketing management committee have members drawn from the security agencies, Ministry of Justice, Agriculture, Environment and representatives from the eight Local Government Areas of the state.#
