The Delta state police command says hoodlums have set Ashaka police station ablaze after shooting sporadically for hours in the early hours of today. 

In a statement made available to newsmen by the state police spokesman Edafe Bright, said the gunmen entered the community in the early hours of today and started shooting before setting the police station which was built by DESOPADEC ablaze. 

The Delta police commissioner Muhammad Ali while reading the riot act to criminals, promised to bring the perpetrators to book. 

In another development, six suspected armed robbers and kidnappers were killed by the tactical unit of the police at Issele-Uku community, in Aniocha South local government area of the state when they were engaged by officers from the Delta police command.
