Barely a few days after INEC office in Abia state southeast Nigeria was set razed, another INEC office in Enugu state in the zone have been set ablaze. 

Reacting to the unfortunate development, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the State, Mr Emeka Ononamadu said, the affected INEC office is located at Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent Ajibade Awofeso said the incident occurred at about 8.40 pm on Thursday.

No casualties were reported, however, the office building was extensively damaged while most non-sensitive electoral materials and office equipment were destroyed in spite of efforts by the Enugu State Fire Service to contain the inferno.

The commission, in a press release, said this is the third incident involving INEC's Local Government offices in three States in less than two weeks. First, there was the destruction of the office in Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State on 2nd May 2021 followed by the fire at the Ohafia LGA of Abia State on 9th May 2021and Now another in Enugu state.
