Police Honours Officers Killed in the EndSARS Protests
The Nigeria police force on Thursday presented cheques worth several millions of naira to the next of kins and families of 39 officers killed during the #ENDSARS protest that rocked the country in October 2020.
Speaking while presenting the cheques in Abuja, the inspector general of Police, Muhammed Adamu said the gesture was part of welfare packages given to those who made the supreme sacrifice while in active service.
IGP Adamu also advised the beneficiaries against having discords over the money, urging them to spend the funds judiciously for urgent and important family needs.
He said the Nigeria police welfare scheme and presentation of life assurance cheques is a routine exercise which is usually given in batches.
Also speaking, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed said, the gesture will encourage serving officers to put in their best while discharging their duties
