Flooding : Atiku Urges FG to Launch Flood Relief Fund.
Former Nigerian Vice President and People’s Democratic Party Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has advised the federal government to launch an independent flood disaster release fund that will provide succour to the victims of flood as a national emergency relief fund.
He made the disclosure at the government house in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital, where he had gone to commiserate with the state government and people of the state over the ravaging flood which submerged houses and government infrastructures in the eight local government areas of the state.
The former vice president who also donated the sum of fifty million naira to the Bayelsa State government to cushion the effect of flooding, called on the federal government and well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the people and government of Bayelsa state.
Responding, Governor Douye Diri lamented the slow response by the federal government.
The Former Nigerian Vice President also offered scholarship to university level to the children of the late footballer Ernest Peremobowei, who drowned after saving five other victims of the flood in a boat mishap.
