The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) has elevated 72 Nigerian lawyers as Senior Advocates (SAN).

Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offence Commission (ICPC), Professor Bolaji Owasonoye, is one of 72 confirmed along with the Attorney General of Delta State, Peter Mrakpor.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that Prof. Owasonoye is one of ten academics elevated to the position of SAN.

The original shortlist of 137 comprising 116 practising lawyers and 21 others drawn from the academia was whittled down to 62 and 10 respectively by the Supreme Court Committee.

The LPPC arrived at the list during its 143rd plenary session held Friday at the Supreme Court.
